What is a Community Action Team?

Community Action Teams is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to promote and support a culture of preparedness and humanitarian outreach efforts since 2010. We also develop new initiatives for emergency preparation, response, and recovery teams. Team leaders are dedicated to the safety and well being of their communities and are willing to give of their time and resources to make a difference.

Community Action Teams’ primary mission is to preserve the dignity of individuals and families by empowering communities with a pathway to prepare and survive disasters within a localized grassroots area. We seek to unite these localized teams of citizens with public and private response teams to develop and deploy a working action plan. The purpose of the action plan is intended to be duplicated community by community, city by city, and geographic neighboring areas. The plan can be implemented from an individual level up to multi-level systems for entire communities, utilizing resources that are available in each of those communities.

Goals and Objectives

Community Action Teams’ primary goal is to address the spiritual, physical, mental, and emotional needs of people in times of crisis, hardship, and poverty. Our teams build community awareness by participation in year-round humanitarian outreach activities. The short and long-term goals are to develop unique collaborative partnerships on behalf of local, regional and national pre-positioning and post-implementation of humanitarian needs, during and after a disaster strikes.

Community Action Teams' primary objective is to bridge locally established advisory committees. These grass root committees explore attainable solutions on behalf of the general public. The Advisory Committees’ primary focus is on the pre-post positioning of local tools, supplies, and equipment that are vitally needed in diverse emergency situations. This includes local, regional, and statewide referrals to help facilitate access to human resources, including disaster relief assistance, such as shelter, food pantries, and clothing support facilities.
